10-Day Fixed Departure Deluxe Adventure

From: USD $2,550.00
The flagship for a rhino reintroduction project organized by Rhino Fund Uganda and the Uganda Wildlife Authority, Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch is perfectly positioned for a stopover between Kampala and northern Uganda. More than 40 white rhinos now roam freely within the 7,000ha sanctuary, which is also home to other large mammals such as waterbuck, bushbuck and warthog.
Our next stop is Murchison Falls National Park. Bisected by the Nile and famed for the dynamic waterfall after which it is named, this is Uganda's largest conservation area and home to the likes of lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, hippo, giraffe and 556 bird species.
Few wildlife-viewing activities are as exciting as tracking white rhinos in Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch. You'll probably use a combination of driving and walking to locate these prehistoric creatures. But once you find them, viewing usually takes place on foot. This means you'll get a really good feel for how huge Africa's second-largest land animal actually is. As you explore the ranch, you should also see plenty of antelope, monkeys and birds.
We once again find ourselves in the lovely surrounds of Murchison Falls National Park.
Put on some warm clothes and enjoy an early morning game drive. This is the perfect time to experience the wildlife and the landscapes they inhabit. The light is soft and warm – perfect for photography – and most animals are out and about, and active. If you’re not an early riser, you’ll definitely want to make an exception here.
Prepare to be blown away by Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Not only is this mountainous rainforest utterly gorgeous, but it has also been recognized as a Unesco World Heritage Site on account of its rich biodiversity and wealth of unique plants and animals. Bwindi is best known for supporting roughly 45% of the world's remaining mountain gorillas, but other wildlife includes the attractive L’Hoest’s monkey, a small population of forest elephants, and a seriously impressive checklist of 350 bird species.
Buffalo, elephant and various antelope are likely to be seen in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, but the focal point of our visit will be locations favored by its legendary tree-climbing lions.
Everybody's favorite pre- or post-gorilla tracking chill-out spot is Bunyonyi, a gorgeous lake hemmed in by steep cultivated slopes typical of southwestern Uganda. Relax on the beach with a cold beer, enjoy a tasty curry made with local freshwater shrimps, ramble or bird watch through the surrounding countryside, or explore the islands by boat.
Spending time in the presence of mountain gorillas is a real privilege, so we're sure you'll enjoy trekking deep into the forest to find them. This is one of the most memorable experiences you can have while on safari.
Ecologically very different to any other conservation area in Uganda, Lake Mburo National Park protects a cover of rolling acacia woodland that looks like it's been transplanted from Tanzania or Kenya. Here you can hope to see hippos splashing in the lakes, buffaloes drinking at the shore, leopards prowling by night, and a wide variety of plains grazers including zebra, impala and a reintroduced population of the rare Rothschild's giraffe. The park's rich variety of aquatic birds is complemented by several acacia-associated species not found elsewhere in Uganda.
You'll love the warm light and cooler temperatures as we take you out to explore on your evening game drive. This time of day is when both predators and prey are most active and it can feel as though anything could happen at any moment. This is when you'll most enjoy being on safari.
